Canterbury Hockey Club's Susannah Townsend has won her first senior international call-up after being named in the England women’s squad for the Euro Nations Championships in Monchengladbach, Germany.

The 22-year-old midfielder (pictured) joins Polo Farm team-mate Natalie Seymour, in the 18-strong party, having been promoted to the senior squad in January.

Speaking about Townsend’s selection, England and former Canterbury coach, Danny Kerry, said: "Susannah has earned her first call-up through good performances for her club and brings great penetrative ball carrying skills to the squad.

"She is riding a steep learning curve and this tournament will give Susannah an opportunity to get valuable experience of a senior tournament."

The nine-day tournament begins on August 20.
