Food lovers will be spoiled for choice in Canterbury this weekend when the next Eurofair, with the Kent Food and Drink Festival, takes place in the city’s Dane John Gardens from Friday.

It is staged by Canterbury council, working in partnership with Produced in Kent, an organisation which promotes Kent producers and raises the profile of food and drink from the area. As well as fine food and drink from around the county visitors will be able to enjoy goodies from all over Europe.

There will be more food and drink on offer than before, with the Dane John Gardens packed with up to 100 stall-holders, with more than 30 featuring food, drink and crafts from Produced in Kent members. The market will be open from 10am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

Among those exhibiting are Biddenden Vineyards, hand-made jewellery and silverware from CAR Designs, The Cheesemakers of Canterbury, chutneys, jams and marmalades from Farmhouse Kitchen, The Fudgery, Godmersham Game, James Dean Pottery, chocolates from Madame Oiseau, Mulberry Glass Art, Paul Hollywood Artisan Breads, Ramsgate Brewery, The German Sausage Company, original paintings and limited edition prints from Grenville Allen and Canterbury Curry Club.

There will also be music on the Dane John’s bandstand, including 70s/80s pop, roots/folk music from Moveable Feast and swing, jazz and jive from the Goosebumps.

The winner of Produced in Kent’s children’s art competition will be presented with their prize by Carl Warner, a London-based photographer.

During the weekend there will be special menus or promotions at local restaurants and shops, as well as food demonstrations and competitions.
