Busy night for Whitstable Lifeboat

A teenager escaped serious injuries after falling from cliffs between Herne Bay and Reculver on Friday evening.

The 13-year-old boy was treated at the scene in Bishopstone by ambulance and coastguard personnel around 5pm. Whitstable Lifeboat was also called to the scene, but stood down after ambulance crews were able to take him to hospital by road.

The lifeboat also dealt with two other emergencies on the way. Firstly, a windsurfer was taken back to shore, after he had got into difficulties when his mast foot board snapped. Shortly after, a jet skier was rescued close to Herne Bay pier, when he was discovered clinging to his craft, but unable to remount and restart it.

Crews helped the owner restart the jet ski and advised him to return to shore.
