Bride assaulted in the street

A MAN assaulted his wife five days into their marriage, magistrates at Canterbury were told.

Mark Foad, 36, of Hovenden Close, Canterbury, admitted assaulting Ann Cheeseman on two occasions in Military Road, Canterbury.

The magistrates ruled that he should be bound over for a sum of £200 to keep the peace for the next 12 months.

At the time of the assault Ms Cheeseman said she felt equally to blame. She had hit him after he had put his hands around her throat.

She had decided that she was not suited to being married to Foad and wanted to get a divorce. Since then the couple had decided to reunite.
