Space could be the final frontier for student Dan Fryer.

Dan, who is studying English literature at Kent University, is one step closer to becoming the first man to ever send an advertisement into the universe, after entering a Doritos competition.

The winner of the You Make It We Play It Campaign, which is encouraging people to come up with the brand’s next TV advert, will have their ad aired on national television, win a prize of £20,000 and be flown to a space centre in Norway to see it broadcast out into the universe.

The 21-year-old from Gravesend came up with the idea for his 30-second clip while sitting in the Canterbury campus cafe.

He said: “My concept for the advert was to have someone thinking about where Doritos tortilla chips come from. But making my idea a reality turned out to be about two weeks work.”

Dan won video of the week after his creative skills impressed the judging panel.
