Attack victim 'serious' in hospital

A 34-year-old Kent man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by another man who was wearing a woolly hat with a thin stripe around the crown.

The assault happened in Edgar Road in Canterbury at about 5.15pm on Saturday.

The victim, from Canterbury, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford with head injuries but transferred on Sunday to St George’s Hospital in London.

A Kent police spokesman on Tuesday described his condition as "serious". The attacker is believed to be aged between 20 and 30.
