Police are hunting an arsonist who set fire to two cars in the same street in Canterbury.

It happened shortly before midnight on Friday when fire engines were called to Bishop's Way. The crews found a Ford Focus estate and a Ford Fiesta alight, although parked 200 yards apart.

Firefighters quickly put out the flames but both vehicles are thought to be write-offs.

Canterbury watch manager Steve Wright said: "It obviously looked suspicious and there was no other reason why these cars should burst into flames. The police are now investigating."
