Armed raider escapes with bookies' cash

A MAN threatened a female member of staff with a gun at a Kent city bookmakers and forced her to hand over more than £1,000.

The robbery happened on Saturday evening at around 7.30pm at Coral's betting shop in Castle Street, Canterbury.

He escaped with the money in a clear carrier bag.

There were no customers in the shop at the time and the woman, who was on her own, was shaken but not injured.

The robber is described as white, aged between 40 and 45, around 5ft 10ins tall with a bald or shaven head.
