Appeal after fatal crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to road accident in June which later claimed the life of an elderly woman.

It happened on Tuesday, June 22, when a Honda Jazz collided head-on with a Ford Sierra near the Kingsmead roundabout in Broad Oak Road, Canterbury.

The driver of the Honda, 80-year-old Daphne Wray, from Charing, near Ashford, suffered a broken leg and was taken to Kent and Canterbury Hospital, as was her elderly passenger.

But complications with her injury are believed to have set in and she died on July 9.

The Ford Sierra was driven by a Margate man who was also injured, but not seriously. All three had to be released from the vehicles by firefighters and the road was closed for several hours.

Any witnesses are asked to contact Canterbury police on 01227 762055.
