The side currently sit fourth in the table on 36 points having won 10 of their 19 games.

But manager Andy Woodman is looking for a new tactics guru and thinks the popular Sports Interactive game may be able to help.

On Tuesday, Xbox and Football Manager launched a campaign, dubbed “The Everyday Tactician”, to mark their 20th anniversary which will give one gamer the chance to join a professional football club.

One lucky player will be able to swap their sofa for the touchline as the club’s support performance tactician, if they succeed.

The role will involve shadowing and learning from all the coaching staff, including the manager himself.

Andy Woodman said: “At Bromley FC, we pride ourselves on being a community club so we’re very much looking forward to welcoming an enthusiastic supporter to our backroom staff.

“There are definitely plenty out there who know how to guide us to glory in the Football Manager game so we’re excited to welcome someone who can replicate that in the real world.”

Miles Jacobson, studio director of Sports Interactive, added: “Football fans are full of opinions on how their team can do better on the pitch – now with the help of Xbox and Bromley F.C. we can finally find out if their theories are right and follow the journey of ‘The Everyday Tactician’.

“I expect there might be a bit more to it than even we at Football Manager anticipate.”

All you have to do to enter is follow three steps:

1. Complete and turn in the Xbox achievement ‘Championes’ by winning a domestic league title -in FM24 on PC with PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate, and on console with Game Pass for Console or Game Pass Ultimate by December 4th.

2. Fill out the form here and send a 1-minute video explaining why you should be Bromley F.C.’s new ‘Tactician’

3. Finalists will complete an interview with Bromley F.C. staff

Once the final tactician has been chosen, fans will be able to follow their journey at the club online and on social media via Bromley F.C., Football Manager and Xbox UK channels.

The journey will also be recorded in a three-part documentary to be released next year.

One candidate who might consider applying is Denmark national Mikkel Enemark who has spent the last 11 years taking Dartford FC from the sixth tier of English football to European and international dominance in the game.

The 44-year-old chose the club due to its “okay-ish stadium” and location close to London.

Mikkel, a factory worker, even caught the eye of Dartford co-chairman Steve Irving.

Mr Irving said: “I’m not a gamer but I understand it’s all a bit of fun and it’s fun to see he has turned Dartford into a global phenomenon.

“The stats are fantastic but I’m surprised someone has played the game for that long.

“If I understand it right that was the game in 2012 when we won the play-offs and got promoted to the Conference national division beating Welling United.

“I would like to find out whether that played a factor in his decision to play as our team.”
