But we are not talking about bangers and mash, Dorothy and Marshall promises to champion locally-sourced seasonal ingredients so that chef Ralph Jones can create dishes such as braised beef short rib with Guinness and black treacle, served with bone marrow mash, red cabbage, baby artichoke, with heritage tomatoes and a goat's cheese, puff pastry tart.

Mr Jones has previously worked with some of the world’s most renowned chefs, including Chris Galvin, Marco Pierre White, Garry Hollihead and Eric Chavot.

The restaurant will open next month in Bromley Old Town Hall.

The Grade II-listed building, built in 1907, had fallen into disrepair after being left vacant for 14 years, but it has recently undergone a stunning £20 million restoration after being bought up by the private equity company Castleforge, under the supervision of architect Cartwright Pickard.

The building now contains Clockwise, co-working office spaces complete with a members lounge and cafe, and will also host a 24-bedroom Brama boutique hotel as well as the Dorothy and Marshall restaurant, which is housed in what used to be the old courthouse.

The restaurant will offer all-day dining in the high-ceilinged, wood-panelled hall decorated with pictures and paintings portraying community life in Bromley over the years.
