Ian Wright is said to be keen to get involved at Homelands

THE recent visit to Ashford Town by Ian Wright looks set to provide a positive boost to the Ryman League club.

The former Arsenal and England star has emerged as part of a group eager to invest in the Homelands side.

Ashford chief executive Mark Jenner confirmed that he is drawing up an agreement to bring in the businessmen as investors in the club.

The club is still smarting from the Rodney Marsh fiasco, which saw that takeover bid crash, but Mr Jenner said the club would be demanding guarantees that the investment would benefit the club immediately and provide for the long term future.

He said the club were in process of drawing up an agreement which would provide the finances for the refurbishment of the Homelands ground and that the contacts would also bring in top class players.

He said: "There are two big Kent investors who want to come in and hopefully the deal will be sealed in the next couple of weeks."
