A saucy Santa window display at the Ashford Designer Outlet centre has prompted a concerned grandfather to campaign to get it removed.

William Booth is unhappy with the unconventional Father Christmas figure in the window of the Ted Baker fashion store at the centre.

The display - billed as Ted's stocking thriller - shows Santa’s wind-blown coat rising to reveal fish-net stockings and suspenders.

But grandfather Mr Booth, 63, of Stubbs Cross, says he is worried about the effect this may have on passing children and wants parents to contact Ted Baker to voice their concerns.

Mr Booth said: “I’m concerned that this perverted display will spoil the innocence of Christmas for children and also of the adverse comments that older children might make to the men who take on the role of Santa Claus at this time of year."

He has asked Ted Baker to remove the display.

But while apologising to Mr Booth is he finds the display offensive the company says it's staying put.

A Ted Baker spokesman said: "We like to create fun window schemes that stand out. Our customers always expect Ted to do something different and we do our best to exceed their expectations and make them smile."
