THE father of a 29-year-old woman killed in a crash with a police car has spoken of his grief following the accident.

Rachel Cheesewright’s father, Tony, said: "All her life she was buzzing. She was so outgoing and so kind.”

His daughter was on the way home from her job at the Bonny Cravat pub in Woodchurch, near Tenterden, at the weekend when the fatal crash took place on a stretch of the A28 at Bethersden, at the junction with Brissenden Green Lane.

Her Ford Fiesta ended up on its roof following the collision, with the marked police Skoda coming to rest in a hedge.

Miss Cheesewright was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The two officers in the police car sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

Miss Cheesewright was planning to get married to long-term partner Lewis Whitehead next June.

The couple had just moved to a new home in Ashford along with their eight-year-old daughter, Charlotte.

Miss Cheesewright's father, who is 67, added: “This is the biggest hole in our family which could be imagined. The best way I can describe Rachel is she was bubbly - like a freshly opened bottle of champagne.

“The relationship she had with her daughter Charlotte was such that they almost seemed to be joined at the hip. They were just so close, so in tune with each other.

"Her mother Marsha and I - we felt it was the happiest we had ever seen her - knowing that she had her life with Lewis and Charlotte to look forward to.

“She had never in her life been so happy - she loved both Lewis and Charlotte to bits.”
