Unusual ways to make last journey

Some unusual forms of transport were displayed during the opening of a new funeral centre.

A motorcycle and sidecar hearse, along with a horse-drawn carriage, made an appearance during the opening of the new Doves Funerals premises at Kingsnorth Road, Ashford.

The centre was opened by Ashford mayor Cllr John Link and the event included a blessing by local clergy.

Visitors also viewed contemporary and traditional floristry displays and were given the chance to look around the premises, which have been decorated to provide a serene and peaceful atmosphere.

Funeral director Jason Maiden said: “Arranging a funeral is one of the most emotional challenges a person can take on.

“By making the environment more welcoming and comfortable we hope to help with easing the anxiety.”
