More than 20 travellers' caravans have invaded a green in Singleton - to the dismay of nearby residents.

The travellers moved their vans onto the land off Cuckoo Lane on Wednesday.

Nearby homes overlook the site and one resident, who asked not to be named, said homeowners were not very happy at the setting up of the makeshift camp.

He said a similar incursion happened at about the same time last year, but then only four caravans had moved onto the site.
