'Trashion' victims take to the catwalk

Hats made from egg boxes and cake tins, jackets made from paper bags and suits made from plastic bags.

These were some of the imaginative ways primary schoolchildren designed clothes from recycled materials to make saving the planet fashionable in more ways than one.

The youngsters from five Ashford borough primary schools also made clothes from old sheets and fabrics.

The eco-project culminated in the new designs being shown in a Trashion Fashion show.

About 42 children got involved at John Wesley School in Singleton last Thursday when they also designed a logo for a bag for life.

The other four schools involved were Hamstreet, Furley Park in Park Farm, Godinton and Pluckley.
