Multiple eyewitnesses stuck in traffic have said emergency services are at the scene.

One woman added: “Traffic is terrible backing up and add that to typical town traffic makes it a nightmare.”

This isn’t the first time someone has been knocked down on the notorious stretch of road.

In 2019 a woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in the same spot and just a month prior a pensioner was also taken to hospital with a head injury after being hit in the same area.

Today this is the second pedestrian to be hit by a vehicle.

Earlier this afternoon a person was taken to hospital after they were hit by a car along Maidstone Road in Paddock Wood, Tonbridge.

A police spokesman said: “We were called just before 5pm on Tuesday, November 21 to North Street, Ashford following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

“Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, where a teenager received treatment for injuries and was then taken to a local hospital.”

The young person’s injuries have been described as neither life threatening or life changing.
