Toddler bitten on face by dog

KENT Police are investigating after a girl of two was bitten on the face by a dog outside a supermarket.

The dog was tied to a metal bar outside the main doors of the Tesco’s store in Park Farm, Ashford, when the incident happened.

Police say the toddler was with an adult and as they came out of the store she let go of the adult’s hand and approached the dog which bit her.

The child was taken by ambulance to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital where she received treatment, including stitches, on her mouth, lip and nose.

The dog, a five year-old black and tan Alsatian/Labrador cross, was moved away from the main doors and tied up near a bicycle rack, where it later bit a man who sustained a bruised wrist

According to its owner the dog does not have aggressive nature and this behaviour is out of character.

Police are appealing for witnesss to both incidents which happened around lunchtime on April 20.
