Fundraising campaign for Ashford mum Natalie Havill with terminal cancer

Friends of a young mum who has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time are raising money to support her family.

Natalie Havill, 32, spotted a cyst in her mouth about 10 years ago, which later turned out to be cancerous.

After several rounds of radiotherapy and an operation to remove part of her lung, the former flight hostess from Willesborough was in remission for several years.

But two months ago, she received devastating news that the rare cancer had returned for a third time and spread across her spine and shoulder.

Doctors have told Natalie - who has two daughters aged four and six - that her condition is untreatable.

After hearing the news, friends from her home town in Sittingbourne have launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for the family.

Jade O'Leary from Wingham is organising a 28-mile coastal hike in March to raise cash.

She plans to open up the fundraising walk, which will cover the Dover area, to members of the public.

Family friend Katie Streatfield has organised a wine and wisdom event to raise money for the family, which will take place in Sittingbourne on Saturday, January 19.

She has also set up a fundraising page, which has already raised more than £1,500 for the family after it launched two weeks ago.

Ms Streatfield, who has known Natalie since she was five years old, said: "Natalie is once again battling her third round of the dreaded C word and she has been given the dreadful news that there is no further treatment that can be offered.

"She has got two tumours at the top of her spine, one in the middle of her spine and one on her shoulder.

'She will give it all her strength to fight this battle, and we would like to be able to give her the opportunity to have a few cherished moments with her family.' - Katie Streatfield

"Our Nat fills a room with her curly locks, beautiful smile and contagious laugh.

Entry to the wine and wisdom evening at Borden Village Hall in Sittingbourne costs £5.
