Straw destroyed in arson attack at Warren Farm, Dymchurch Road, New Romney

Around 10 tons of baled straw were destroyed in a suspected arson attack on a farm in New Romney last night.

A number of people raised the alarm as the flames and smoke were spotted.

Fire crews from Hythe and Dymchurch tackled the blaze at Warren Farm, Dymchurch Road, which broke out about 6pm.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “We had loads of calls from the public.

“Around 10 to 15 tons of baled straw were alight and about five tons were left to burn out by 7pm.”

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
