Villagers are celebrating after a two-year campaign to introduce a new 30mph speed limit finally became a reality.
Bethersden parish council has been calling for a speed reduction from 40mph following multiple accidents on the A28, including four fatalities since 2004.
Kent Highways Services (KHS) installed new signs, two new crossing points and virtual speed humps over the summer.
Ashford Rural West county councillor Richard King, who gave in excess of £25,000 from his highways fund for the project, cut the ribbon to launch the new speed limit last Friday.
The opening was also attended by Ashford MP Damian Green, Joint Transportation Board member Cllr Michael Claughton and KHS head of countywide improvements Behdad Haratbar.
