Purse taken as teenage girl robbed

A teenage girl was robbed of her purse in South Ashford as she walked home.

The 18-year-old was walking in Beaver Lane and cut through the gap in the brick wall by Beaver Inn to get to the grassed area in front of The Poplars on Monday, December 20.

As she approached the end of the first block of flats she put her handbag on the ground as she adjusted her clothing at around 9pm.

Someone then walked past, nudging her with their shoulder and causing her to fall over.

The person picked up her handbag and reached inside before discarding it on the floor. When the woman retrieved it she found her purse, containing bankcards, was missing.

The thief had a slim build, was wearing black bottoms and top, a black woolly hat and glasses.

Any witnesses are urged to call south Kent police on 01622 690690, and quote crime number FY/19821/10.
