Police are investigating two vehicle fires within an hour of each other in Ashford.

The fires, which happened early today, were among three calls involving blazes in vehicles dealt with by the town’s firefighters.

The two being looked at by police were a BMW alight in Rylands Road, Kennington, at 2.10am and a Transit pick-up in the car park of shops in Hoxton Close, Singleton, at 3.15am.

Earlier, at 1.32am, the fire crews dealt with a Range Rover alight in Goat Lees, Kennington.

Crew manager Andy Harris said: "It is hard to say if the later two were connected. They were close time-wise."

The cause of the Range Rover fire is thought to have been an electrical fault.
