A FINANCIAL consultant appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday accused of murdering his wife.

Darren Chittenden is alleged to have killed his wife Zarna, 42, at the family home in Langney Drive, Ashford, on June 28. Her body was found in the bath.

Martin Griffith, prosecuting, said 42-year-old Chittenden had indicated he would be denying the charge.

Chittenden was remanded in custody until October 14, when a plea will be entered.

Kevin Sparks, defending, told Judge Warwick McKinnon: "There will almost certainly be a bail application at some stage."
