POLICE are still trying to establish the reason for a horrific car crash that left a 45-year-old driver with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the A28 Great Chart bypass near Ashford where a Ford Focus had left the road and rolled onto its roof in the hedge just past the junction to Tithe Barn Lane on the Singleton estate.

The lone occupant was an Ashford man who was trapped in the wreckage. Firefighters with specialist cutting equipment took almost an hour last Friday to remove the doors to allow paramedics to remove him.

He was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital and later transferred to Guy’s Hospital in London where his condition was later described as "stable".
