Matt Cozens lifts Kent Schools Golf Championship

Littlestone's Matt Cozens added his name to some illustrious predecessors when he lifted the individual Kent Schools’ Championship at Faversham.

The Marsh Academy pupil shot a superb one-under-par net 69 to take the trophy which has previously been won by European Tour professional Benn Barham and England amateur Matt Haines.

Cozens (h2) gained further glory when partnering fellow Littlestone members Sophie Daws (h6) and Jamie Guppy (h3) to the team trophy as they finished eight shots clear of the field with a total of 224 in the scratch event.

The team were due to represent Kent in the National Schools’ finals at Thetford in Norfolk on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Other Littestone juniors who played well that day were Connor Fletcher and Mark Collins and they are both playing in the Macgregor England Under-16 Championships this week.

Oliver Daws was seven over par and has entered the Reid Under-14 England Championship in August. Liam and Matt Sutton were in the third-placed team.
