Man killed in accident at Ashford Truck Stop

A man has been killed under a lorry at Ashford Truck Stop.

Emergency services were called to reports that the victim was struck by a Scania articulated lorry being parked on Tuesday evening.

The tragedy at Waterbrook Avenue near Orbital Park happened just before 6.30pm.

South Kent Polcie spokesman Rosy Alexander said: 'The man sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

'We are investigating the incident.'

Both Ashford officers and the Kent force's Serious Crash Investigation Unit were called out to the tragedy.

Ashford firefighters were also called, sending one engine, to assist police in making the scene safe.

The victim has not so far been identified and the SCIU is appealing for witnesses. Anybody who can help should contact it on 01622 798538.
