A man has been discharged from hospital after a car flipped onto its side near junction 9 of the M20.

The crash between a silver Renault people carrier and a blue HGV lorry happened on the roundabout by the motorway overpass in Ashford just before 2pm.

Fire crews from Ashford and Charing were called to scene and firefighters used hydraulic cutters to remove the roof of the car so the injured driver could be freed.

Police closed the road while the man was treated by paramedics and taken to the William Harvey Hospital. His injuries were not serious and he has since been discharged.

The lorry driver was not harmed in the accident. After the car was recovered and debris was cleared, officers reopened the road at 3.30pm.
