An 18-year-old man has appeared in court following a police cannabis raid.

Tuan Nghiem, was formally charged with being concerned in the production of a quantity of cannabis and dishonestly causing a quantity of electricity to be wasted or diverted.

The offences, in Ashford, were alleged to have happened between September 1, 2008 and February 17 this year.

Ashford magistrates directed crown court trial and Nghiem, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody and will reappear in the magistrates court on March 18.

The charges stem from a police raid on a property at Lodge Wood Drive in Ashford's Orchard Heights estate on Tuesday.

Nghiem, aided by a Vietnamese interpreter, did not enter pleas for the offences at this stage.
