Vauxhall Astra stolen in Stanhope Road in Ashford after men ask for directions

A man was dragged from his car and robbed of his vehicle by a group of men asking for directions.

The incident happened in Stanhope Road in Ashford last night at about 9.40pm.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was driving his silver Vauxhall Astra when he pulled over to take a phone call.

Three men then approached him, asking for directions.

Mid-reply, one of the men opened the driver's side door and pulled him out onto the ground.

All three then jumped into the car, taking off towards Kingsnorth.

The man who asked for directions is described as being white, slim, in his 30s and with short, light brown hair. He was wearing a dark jacket, jeans and trainers.

The man who pulled the victim from the car is described as being white, 6ft, of muscular build, wearing a black hooded top and light grey jogging bottoms.

"Fortunately the victim of this incident was not injured, although he was understandably shaken up..." - DI Keith Taylor

Detective Inspector Keith Taylor said: "Fortunately the victim of this incident was not injured, although he was understandably shaken up and his glasses were broken during the struggle.

"I am very keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who may have dashcam footage of the vehicle being driven away, so we can identify those responsible and bring them to justice."
