Woman who fell in love with Ashford criminal while he was in prison on Sheppey was later stalked by him

A woman who fell in love with a prisoner was later stalked by him after she became pregnant with his child and their relationship turned sour.

Breah Sutton made national headlines when she started dating Harley Webb while he was locked up at HMP Elmley on the Isle of Sheppey.

She previously told how a friend had encouraged her to write to the jailbird - which sparked the beginning of their romance.

The couple started communicating via letter and phone in October 2020 - at the height of the Covid pandemic - and soon became boyfriend and girlfriend.

Ms Sutton, who has now given birth to their daughter, told The Sun in November 2021 how she had fallen in love with 33-year-old Webb, who has spent about 12 years of his life in prison.

Speaking at length to the newspaper, she also shared pictures of a tattoo of Harley's initial she'd had done before their first in-person meeting.

The career burglar has been jailed on various occasions over the years for a variety of offences, including domestic violence offences on a previous partner.

When Webb, who lives at a caravan site in Chlimington Green, Great Chart, Ashford, was released from jail in January last year he had move to Devon to live in a hostel as part of his licence conditions.

Ms Sutton moved to the area to be nearer to him - and they got engaged just two days after he left prison.

But within a few months their relationship turned sour and Ms Sutton cut contact after a series of rows. She then moved back to Swindon, where she is from.

Then earlier this year, Webb started harassing her by calling her and sending her messages. He also drove hundreds of miles to her home, turning up unannounced.

He would also leave voice notes threatening various things, including injuring her father and saying he was going to cause "World War Three" if she didn't see him or return his calls.

After their child was born, Webb also sent her flowers and notes and put £50 in her account on one occasion. He also sent cards to Ms Sutton saying he missed both her and his daughter.

He also contacted one of her friends so they could pass on a message to her to tell her he loved her. But he also wanted to know if she was seeing someone else.

Ms Sutton contacted police and Webb was later charged with stalking her between February 8 and February 24 this year.

He admitted the offence when he appeared in court the same month, before the hearing was adjourned for a pre-sentencing report to be carried out.

Webb appeared before magistrates again on Wednesday.

"He would never let her be happy or with another man..."

James Nichols, prosecuting, said: "He sent voice notes threatening what he would do to her father and that she better not have another boyfriend as he would cause World War Three if she did.

"Other [voice notes] said he would never let her be happy or with another man. He also called her nasty names.

"On February 14, Valentines Day, he sent her flowers which were her initials and put £50 in her account. He also made a 400-mile round trip to her home to drop off cards.

"He has previous convictions for domestic violence on another partner."

Medway Magistrates' Court was told Webb and Ms Sutton had a intense relationship and had become engaged just two days after his release from prison.

They also heard Webb, who has ADHD and mental health issues, had spent another 32 days in jail since admitting the stalking offence in February.

The bench was told he had previously spent about 12 years of his life inside and had been recalled persistently.

Magistrates decided to place him on a 12-month community order, which will see him carry out 200 hours of unpaid work. He must undertake 20 rehabilitation sessions with probation, including completing a "building better relationships" programme.

He was also issued with a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting Ms Sutton or going near her home.

Magistrates also ordered he pay a victim surcharge of £114 and £85 court costs.
