Hythe boss Scott Porter says his side will once again thrive on playing the role of underdogs in their FA Trophy second qualifying round tie at Bury Town on Saturday.

Porter’s Ryman League, Division 1 South side welcome back Jimmy Dryden and Craig Thompson from suspension, which means Pat Kingwell, fresh from his two-goal salvo playing up front in the 3-2 win at Crawley Down last Saturday, will revert to centre-back in place of the cup-tied Nick Reeves.

Porter, who had his Ryman League, Premier Division opponents watched in their midweek game against Carshalton, said his side will
draw on their experience of progressing to the FA Cup first round last season.

He said: "We seem to raise our game against the better teams and we can now also fall back on the experience of what we did last season in the cup.

"All the pressure is on them, there’s none on us. We are the underdogs and that plays into our hands."

Hythe go into the game on the back of Saturday’s win, which moved Porter’s side up to 11th in the division and just five points off the play-offs.

Town had to come from behind twice in the game but a brace from Kingwell and a stunning strike from Richard Sinden sealed Hythe’s fifth victory of the season.

Porter praised Kingwell’s efforts after the defender was pushed up front in the absence of Dryden and Thompson.

He said: "If you could have a Pat Kingwell up front and one at the back, you’d have a pretty good team."
