Ashford Mayor springs into action at opening of new basketball court in South Willesborough

Ashford’s mayor was shooting hoops at the opening of a community centre’s new basketball court.

Cllr David Smith met pupils from the North School’s basketball academy at the event and couldn't resist testing out the new court.

Players from the academy tutored some of the youngsters who will be making use of the court.

Cllr Smith said: “As ward member for this area, I have worked hard to change this play space from an old car park to a high-quality informal play space. I am delighted to see this court refurbished to such a high standard."

The court was built on a former car parking area in Herbert Road, close to the Waterside children’s centre in South Willesborough.
