Ashford slipped to a disappointing 3-2 home defeat against London Wayfarers in South League Premier Division 2 on Saturday.

The home side were made to pay for missing chance after chance and the result sees them slip to ninth place in the table.

Paul Cheap was one of the few Ashford players to come out of the game with any credit. He caused Wayfarers plenty of problems down the left wing and he was also on target along with Rob Playford.

But too many other chances went begging and Wayfarers made the most of some sloppy defending to score three times in reply.

Ashford will now have their mettle tested by back-to-back away trips to Henley and Barnes but they will be boosted by the return of captain Chris Smith and Dan Wells.

Ashford 2nds cruised to a 6-1 success at Blackheath 2nds.
