Missing pet parrot: Have you seen Ben Jones' bird, Hugo, flying around Ashford?

Pretty parrot Hugo has gone missing in Ashford.

The young bird flew out the window of owner Ben Jones’ Repton Park home on Sunday and hasn’t been seen since.

Now Mr Jones and partner Casey are appealing for people to keep their eyes peeled for Hugo, who is green and red in colour.

Mr Jones, 28, of said: “He escaped through a window - it was only open a small crack.

“I put my shoes on and went after him but he flew off.

“He escaped once before but was back within five minutes. But nothing like this before.

“I’ve done some research and they can live on their own for a few days.

“He is likely to still be in the area but could’ve flown some distance by now. It's possible he's hidden himself in someone's garden.

The couple brought Hugo, a green-cheeked conure with long red tail feathers, from Bybrook Garden Centre in Ashford in July when he was only a few months old.

He lived in a cage at first but is now free to roam around their home.

He also enjoys the company of their greyhound puppy Sawyer.

Mr Jones, who is set to wed animal lover Casey at Port Lymnpe Reserve this August, said: “My other half is animal crazy, which is why we got him.

“I wasn’t that keen at first but he has a great personality. He has quite a distinctive 'Amazon' sounding call!"

Mr Jones said he is very tame and responds to his name.

He adds: "The puppy is wondering where he is."
