A SPECIAL cones hotline has been set up by the Kentish Express newspaper to allow readers the chance to voice their grievances about Ashford’s traffic problems.

Since work began on making the town’s ring road two-way a year ago the town centre has been plagued by traffic jams.

Traffic cones have become a regular feature of life in Ashford for fed-up motorists.

And the problem has been worsened for thousands of other drivers with cones currently in place to block off lanes around the Drover’s Roundabout, near junction 9 of the M20 - which is one of the main access points to the town centre.

The roadworks there are scheduled to last another three months, leading to reports of road rage among drivers having to queue for up to 20 minutes in peak periods to get around the roundabout.

The Kentish Express is urging its readers to call the new cones hotline to report excess cones, or coned off areas where no one is working.

The initiative is being run in conjunction with kmfm in Ashford.
