THE funeral will take place today for murdered teenager Ashley Dighton.

The 19-year-old was last seen on Monday, June 11, on his way to Sainsbury's in Simone Weil Avenue, Kennington, Ashford.

His decomposed body was found in the wooded area behind the supermarket on Wednesday, July 11, prompting a detailed search of the area that lasted three weeks and involved around 100 police officers.

Extensive DNA tests confirmed Ashley's identity eight weeks later.

Family and friends will say their farewells today at a church in Kennington.

Police are continuing to appeal for information an would like to speak to anyone who thinks they saw Ashley on June 11, especially at Sainsbury's or the walkway through the wooded area to the back of the supermarket which is known locally as "the dip".
