Manager Neil Cugley will run the rule over several potential new recruits when Folkestone Invicta begin training next week.

Cugley, who has already signed striker Stuart King from Thamesmead Town, said: "We are going to have a lot of new faces at pre-season training this year, which is unusual for us.

"I’m not saying we are going to make a massive number of signings but we need to freshen things up a bit and I will be looking at some lads of a certain pedigree."

Cugley (pictured) expects Liam Friend’s transfer to Margate to go through once the clubs have agreed on the fee. As Friend is under 24, Invicta are entitled to compensation for the 22-year-old defender and Cugley said: "I think it’s all sorted, it’s just up to Margate now."

Invicta have had to make one enforced change from their programme of pre-season friendlies.

They were due to play Canvey Island at home on Saturday, July 30 but the Essex side have pulled out of the fixture because they have been offered the chance of a home friendly with local League 2 side Southend United on the same day.

Invicta will now meet Kent League newcomers Canterbury City at the Buzzlines Stadium on July 30.
