Neil Cugley saw his side claim a Ryman League Division 1 South play-off place this week – and the Folkestone boss now wants a crack at winning it.

Invicta are five points adrift of leaders Croydon Athletic after Tuesday’s 1-0 home defeat ahead of facing Whyteleafe on Thursday but Cugley’s men have a game in hand with the top-two meeting at Cheriton Road next Tuesday. Despite already exceeding hopes this season, the Folkestone boss knows everything is still to play for.

Cugley(pictured) said: "It’s good to get a play-off place secured. Now we need to make it a home one and see where we end up in the title race.

"We have to win every game and will give it a good go."

Winning every game will see them lift the title but Cugley is adamant that will be a tough ask.

Cugley added: "We’ve got a couple of tough games coming up. Walton and Hersham are still in the hunt for the play-offs and you never get an easy game down there.

"Then we’ve got Ramsgate on Saturday and that won’t be easy either. The pitches are getting hard and the games are all so congested. It’ll be difficult for us."

Cugley’s men will need to bounce back from their shock defeat to Whyteleafe if they are to get their title push back on track.

Darren Watson’s 70th-minute goal was the difference on Tuesday night but Croydon couldn’t take advantage as they could only draw at Burgess Hill Town.
