Firefighters issue petrol tank warning

MOTORISTS are being warned by Kent firefighters that petrol tanks should not be completely filled in very warm weather.

The advice comes after members of a fire crew were called to a car leaking petrol in a car park in Apsley Street, Ashford.

Sub-officer Terry Hardie said: “This is quite normal at this time of year. If you have air trapped in the tank, it starts to get really hot the air expands and starts pushing the fuel out.”
