A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Charing.

Police were called to the A20 at 5.30pm after reports a woman had been run over by a car.

She has been taken to a London hospital.

The bottom of Charing Hill is currently closed while emergency services deal with the incident and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

Traffic is being diverted along the High Street.

Local resident Joe Witt took to Twitter to warn people after he saw emergency services outside his home.

He Tweeted: "A20 completely closed at Charing. Lots of emergency vehicles. Cars being diverted to the high street - its chaos!"
