A LORRY driver escaped unhurt after his cab veered off the M20 and overturned down a bank between Ashford and Maidstone.

The Dutch-registered cab, which did not have a trailer attached, was left by the roadside off the coastbound carriageway after the accident, which happened between 1.30am and 1.45am on Wednesday.

Insp Mark Holt explained: “To recover the lorry would have meant closure of the M20, as only one lane was driveable.

“The lorry was off the road and not causing an obstruction. Once the weather clears up a bit we will look at recovering it.” No-one was hurt in the incident.
