Children involved in coach smash

A GROUP of schoolchildren escaped serious injury when their coach was in collision with a car on the A2070 Ashford to Brenzett road mid-afternoon on Friday.

Two people trapped in the car, which ended up in a ditch, had to be cut free by firefighters. The extent of their injuries are unknown.

The coach ended up in a field alongside the road following the accident.

Teachers, police and paramedics looked after the children.

Some of the youngsters suffered cuts and bruises and others were shocked by their ordeal.

The busy road was closed in both directions by police to enable firefighters and paramedics to carry out the rescue operation.
