TWO masked men, one of whom was wielding a hand axe, burst into a Kent off licence and demanded cash from the till.

The robbery took place shortly after 9.30pm on Saturday at the premises in The Singleton Centre, Ashford.

It was captured on the shop's CCTV camera and police have released these images in the hope people with information will come forward.

The shop assistant handed over a quantity of cash but one of the men reached into the till and stole more. The robbers are thought to have escaped through the park behind the shopping centre after leaving the off licence.

One offender is described as being of stocky build with short hair and a centre parting. He was wearing a blue hodded top and was the shorter of the two.

The second man was wearing a grey hooded top. Both men had their faces covered with scarves.

DS Andy Chapman said: "These men were aggressive and intimidating, and brandished an axe at the shop assistant. Although they had covered their faces, the CCTV pictures show their distinctive clothing."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01233 896283 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
