Busy night for fire crews in Ashford

Fire crews had a busy night last night as two houses and a van went up in flames.

One engine from the town's fire station was called out at around 10pm to a report that a van had been set alight in Bank Road in Aldington.

It took crews around an hour to tackle the blaze. No-one is believed to have been injured.

Police also attended and are investigating the cause, which is being treated as suspicious.

Firefighters from Ashford and Tenterden were called out to a fire at a home in Hornash Lane in Shadoxhurst at around 12.40am after an outer building containing a swimming pool caught alight.

Foam had to be used to extinguish the fire and crews were at the property for roughly two and a half hours.

Police are investigating the cause of this blaze. No one was injured.

Three engines from Chilham, Wye and Charing were called to a house fire in Crownfield Road in Ashford at 3.40am.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
