Beating Hythe Town 8-0 was one of Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley's best days in football

Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley says the Boxing Day drubbing of local rivals Hythe was one of the most pleasing days he’s had in football.

Invicta fired eight past their Ryman League Division 1 South rivals to firm-up their top-four spot, sitting eight points behind leaders Bognor and with a four point advantage over the play-off chasing pack.

Cugley said: "We were just really, really good. It was a good day for the club to get over 1,000 in and play like that, it will bring in some money off the pitch – it was a good day all-round.

"Hopefully after watching some of the football we played, they will come back again."

He added: "I don’t think the result had much to do with how Hythe played, I think you have to give us credit.

"We kept the ball moving, showed a lot more energy than they did and they just could not get near us.

"It has to be the most enjoyable day I’ve had – though beating Dover in front of 2,000 takes some beating."

Next up for Invicta is something of a grudge match when Corinthian Casuals visit Cheriton Road on Saturday.
