A factory was evacuated following a fire on Thursday.

It happened at Premier Foods at Kennington Road, Willesborough, at about 3.30pm.

Firefighters believed the small fire was caused by a component overheating in an 10-metre wide electrical power room.

A spokesman for Ashford Fire Station said: “It was more smoke that travelled.

“While it was only a small fire the company has strict evacuation procedures so everyone had to leave.â€

Two fire engines were at the scene and crews were there for 45 minutes.

The company is famous for its Batchelors brand and last year opened a new factory, hiring 400 people.
