Ashford Town Cricket Club are denied their first win of the Kent League season by The Mote

Liam Tegg goes on the attack during his innings of 47 against The Mote

Ashford Cricket Club were left frustrated after a solid batting display and good bowling had left them with hopes of recording their first Kent League Division 1 win of the season against The Mote.

Five players contributed with the bat, with James Watson top-scoring with 48 not out, Matthew Lincoln and Liam Tegg cracking 47 each, skipper Craig Buckham hitting an unbeaten 41 and Shannon Fattore adding 38 as the home side made 246-5.

And after Mohsin Raza (3-23) had helped reduce the Maidstone side to 95-7 with 17 overs remaining, Ashford looked set for a victory, only for The Mote pair to bat out the overs, finishing on 142-7 to earn a draw which left Ashford rooted to the bottom, although just three points from safety.
