Ashford's iconic new £8 million M20 footbridge finally has a name - the Eureka Skyway.
The name was chosen by a selection panel comprising representatives from Kent County Council, the Kentish Express and local councillors, following a competition in the KE to find a name for the bridge – which links the Eureka Leisure Park to the Warren Retail Park.

In all 130 entries were submitted suggesting names with all sorts of themes - including well-known former residents, names with geographical or historical association as well as a few outlandish and sarcastic suggestions.
In the end the judges selected Eureka Skyway – one of no less than 76 names put forward by sports journalist Neil Wolfson – feeling the name was striking, modern and easily recognisable.
KE editor Robert Barman, who was one of the judges, said: “The Skyway suggestion was immediately liked by all the judges as it sums up the bridge’s design and look.
“We would like to thank everyone who made the effort to put forward name suggestions.”
Mr Wolfson said he was delighted to have his suggestion adopted as the bridge’s official name. "I started off with three name ideas and then it just snowballed really ... to 76 names!”
The official opening ceremony is due to take place at the end of this month.
